Peninsula Health District - Reaching Out to Dental Offices for Vaccine Distribution

We received the following communication from Adam Hess at VDH for the Peninsula Health District. He can be reached directly at adam.hess@vdh.virginia.gov:

We are currently finalizing the vaccination distribution details for the Peninsula.  We ask for your patience as we continue to work together to protect the health of our community.  In the meantime, we are gathering information from agencies calling to request prioritization.  Please leave the name of a Point of Contact (POC), phone and/or email address for the POC, the name of the agency, and the estimated needed vaccine total.  I have attached a basic information form below for that information.   Please fill out that form and return it to me at your earliest convenience.  This information will give me the ability to contact you with more information as soon as it is available.  Also, feel free to distribute the information collection form to the members of your society and have them email me back directly with the completed information.  Once again, thank you.

Our district just includes Hampton, Newport News, Yorktown, Poquoson, Williamsburg, and James City County.  I am also adding a google link as well to this email that you can send in place of the form from earlier if it makes things easier for you.  Thank you for your help today.

Covid Vaccine Request Form

Dentists, hygienists and dental assistants are included in the state’s criteria as Phase 1a healthcare workers and are eligible to receive priority access to the vaccine. Health care personnel that directly care for COVID-19 patients will receive top priority among health care providers.

The ADA has published a fact sheet with additional information on the safety and effectiveness of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

Learn more about the state’s vaccine distribution plan

The VDA is in regular contact with the VDH and will keep members informed as we learn more about state and local plans.

We have also heard from many members about their eagerness to participate in the effort as vaccine administrators, and encourage those with an interest to fill out the VDH provider intent form
