Tidewater Dental Association Recording Secretary, Dr. Zaneta Hamlin describes herself as an advocate ... for her family, community and our industry.  A first-generation Ghanaian-American and second-generation dentist, Dr. Hamlin spent afternoons growing up visiting her father’s practice.  With his support, as well as through the relationships she developed at Howard University College of Dentistry and while first in practice in Howard County, Maryland, Dr. Hamlin has both a sounding board for her jokes but also a tight network pushing her to achieve her goals.  One of those goals is to serve her industry by getting involved with organized dentistry on the national level.  When she’s not serving others, Dr. Hamlin is perfecting her art – serving as a carpenter’s apprentice (to her father-in-law) in her spare time and in the dental chair, characterizing dentistry as “an art that is on display 24/7.” We thank Dr. Hamlin for giving us a peek into her life and encourage VDA members to reach out to her to catch a spark of the passion she brings to our profession.
